Mirroring: Reflecting someone's behavior as if you were their mirror image (they raise left hand, you raise right) Matching: Copying the exact behavior (they cross right leg, you cross right leg)
Posture — Lean when they lean, sit back when they sit back Gestures — Match hand movement frequency and size (not exact gestures) Breathing Rate — Subtle but powerful. Match their breathing rhythm. Speech Patterns — Speed, volume, tone, and rhythm Key Words — Use their vocabulary, not yours
Pace: Match their current state (energy, mood, speaking style) Pace: Continue matching for 2-3 minutes Lead: Gradually shift your behavior. If rapport is established, they will follow.
Spend the first 2 minutes subtly matching posture and speech rate After 2 minutes, shift your posture slightly Notice if the other person follows your shift within 30 seconds If they do, rapport is established

Ethical Note
Rapport techniques should be used to improve genuine connection, not to manipulate. The goal is mutual understanding, not control.
