Why it matters
On the phone and on video, a lot of the read is in the voice. The pause before "of course", the pitch that rises on a statement, the pace that picks up when the topic changes: these are easy to let pass, and remote work is where many conversations now happen.
What the mute observer can miss
Response latency. A rising terminal on a claim. Volume that drops on the one number that matters. Speech that speeds up or flattens when the subject turns to money, deadlines or the other supplier.
How to work on it
